When creating my music video as part of my A2 coursework, I used a software called Final Cut in order to edit together my footage developing a finished product. Final Cut meant that I was also able to apply a number of filter and effects to make the video more interesting, or to improve it further.
I added all of my footage into final cut and then cut and altered it accordingly so that I was able to place it together and sync the visuals with the lyrics. I done this by zooming in, using the plus and minus in the bottom right hand side, so that I was accurately able to place the footage over the music, ensuring that I was using on beat editing. Final cut allowed me to use on beat editing as I could press the 'M' key to mark beats within the music. These marks would then allow footage to stick to them so that I could accurately place shots to the beat. Maintaining on beat editing allows for the music video to flow well, increasing the pace of the music video.
In order to maintain consistency throughout some of the shots, I used filters to alter the lighting of the beginning four locations so that they would flow well into each other rather than appearing as blocks that don't fit together. I done this on final cut by choosing the custom filter at the bottom right hand side of the screen, where I could then choose the colour board and change the lighting. I changed the exposure, saturation and also colour to make the shots slightly blue tinted. Doing this added an almost boring sense across the shots, further representing the idea of these being every day situations, and day to day life.
In order to make some shots more interesting I also added filters to improve and develop specific shots. Final cut allowed me to add a boher effect, where I was able to change the size amount, opacity and speed of the marks. Adding this filter meant that I could allow Emily to appear elegant, emphasisng her beauty and matching the fairy lights in the background.
I then added a Bad TV effect using Final Cut Pro to further emphasise music, we set it as a mark on an important beat during dancing, to emphasis female power and authority, while zooming in closer to the girls and highlighting their importance further. This effect also makes the video more interesting, adding a sense of voyeurism through the sense of looking.
At some point throughout the music video I included slow motion shots to support the music, as well as emphasis the beauty of the girls. Slow motion also shows confidence, allowing the girls to flick their hair and appear comfortable within themselves. To do this I selected the icon in the right hand corner and then slowed it down to 50 percent.
