Conventions of Magazine Adverts:

Conventions of Magazine Adverts:

Magazine Adverts use a variety of different conventions in order to enable music albums to become known, and to create a link between the music and the adverts.

  • Lots of close ups of the artists, as well as full body shots to create a star persona and allow the audience to develop an understanding of the artists characteristics and personality.
  • Interesting and unique typography usually that links to the character of the artist. For example Katy Perry 'I kissed a Girl' uses bold, almost fancy bubbly writing in red, this represents Katy's feminine yet outgoing attitude.
  • High contrast between light and dark, usually where the artist is well lit compared to a dark backing allows focus on the main individual, creating a star iconography allowing them to appear centre of attention. For example 'From the roots up' by Delilah, within this shot she is well lit and contrasts to the black background behind her
