Costume props and make-up:

Image result for ripped jeansIn the music video, during the dance shots I am for all of the four girls to be wearing ripped jeans this is to show similarity between them all. I also think ripped jeans are suitable as they are quite a relaxed piece of clothing and therefore will allow members of the audience to feel a connection with the group. It would allow the girls to seem natural by removing the ‘fake’ persona that can sometimes be associated with pop girl groups.

Image result for coloured tshirtsIn the dance section of the music video I would also like all of the girls to wear bright and colourful t-shirts, having different coloured t-shirts will show independence while the trousers will bring them together as one. The bright t-shirts will allow them to stand out especially in the night time lighting I am aiming to use. With studio lighting I would also like the girls to have bright t-shirts, all together similar t-shirts and similar trousers bring them together but act to show individuality and difference between the girls.

Image result for pjsFor Ashleigh’s singular shots I aim for her to be wearing pyjamas, this is because they will represent her innocence and kindness while allowing the audience to empathise with her. They also suit the bedroom setting that the shot takes place in creating a clear connection. Her makeup at this point will be extremely simple, consisting of only foundation and bronzer to give her a natural look and allow her to fit in with her setting.

Image result for smart trousers turtleneck and blazer femaleImage result for red lipstickFor Hannah’s independent shots I am for her to be wearing office suitable clothes, for example smart trousers and a smart/casual top for example a turtle neck. Doing this outfit should represent her independence and power that is further supported by her red lipstick, and allow the audience, (to be specific the young females) to feel almost empowered and provide them with a sense of control or independence. The casual however still smart turtleneck, should ensure that Hannah does not appear intimidating however still fits in with the scene and setting of these shots. The only prop that we will be using is a red lipstick and it will be shown applied in the office shot to represent authority.

Image result for tshirt and jeansFor both Ayanna’s and Emily’s individual scenes I would like them similarly to obtain the casual and simple look. I aim to keep them simple so they appear to the audience just the same as everyday people presenting female power and don’t come across as intimidating to any younger female viewers. This is similar with makeup, I aim to also keep their makeup simple, to not only fit the settings being a shopping centre, and on a road with a car, but also allow young girls to understand they don’t have to wear loads of makeup, allowing Image result for red lipstickthese girls to act as role models to the younger generation. In their separate shots both Emily and Ayanna will be wearing different things, however, both kept simple. The red lipstick will then be seen physically in the car scene where it will be seen being applied. Doing this will allow young individuals to feel a connection through makeup, or even to have a voyeuristic impact when being applied for the male viewers.

Image result for bold eyesIn terms of makeup, for the dance shots I aim to create relatively bold eyes using bright colours that match their t-shirts or clothing. Doing this will create an overall look bringing the entire costume together as well as allowing individuality to be presented, showing how makeup can be used to create a persona or character. Bright and bold colours will show power linking the costume to the lyrics heard.

Image result for natural makeup

For all other shots of the music video, including independent shots I aim to create a natural makeup look. Doing this should allow the audience to emphasise with the girls, as well as present to young individuals that loads of makeup isn’t necessary in everyday situations, allowing these girls to look like usual everyday people, and not present

Locations:

Within the music video, I aim to use a variety of different locations. I have chosen a bedroom to allow this member to appear as very laid back and comfortable in herself, providing a positive outlook of little makeup and pyjamas for young girls. Another location is a shopping centre; this is somewhere that can be associated with most individuals, allowing the young girls within the audience to feel a connection with the group member. It also represents Emily’s character to be bold and outgoing. I have chosen for another location to be an office atmosphere, doing this presents Hannah as independent and powerful, as well as also being suggestive of some form of authority, acting to empower members of the audience. The final independent location will be in and around a car, this is to represent Ayanna as someone who is always in a rush or as an extremely busy individual. Rediola and myself have chosen to use these four very different locations to show each of the girls to be independent and show their individuality before bringing them all together. I then aim to use two more locations, studio shots to create moods using lights and allow our music video to link to those that are already existing, and the Southbank in central London. We have chosen the Southbank as when filming there will be Christmas lights creating a positive and exciting atmosphere to create a buzz amongst the viewers.
